Itinerary

Day 1WELCOME TO CAPE TOWN

Upon arrival into Cape Town International Airport, guests will be met by a John Hall’s Alaska representative and transferred to the first evening accommodations located at Victoria and Alfred Harbor, The Table Bay Hotel. The rest of the day is at guests’ leisure for exploring sights around the harbor and hotel. Join fellow travelers this evening for a welcome reception and dinner.

Day 2SHAMWARI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the Cape Town International Airport, where guests will board a 2-hour flight to Port Elizabeth. Upon arrival, private transportation will be waiting to transfer guests to Shamwari Private Game Reserve for the next 3 evenings. Enjoy exclusive acces to Long Lee Manor, one of 7 boutique lodges on Shamwari Private Game Reserve. Settle in with a welcome lunch before meeting your expert guides for the next 3 days.

Day 3SHAMWARI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

Game viewing drives will be available each morning and evening, looking for the “”Big Five”” from the comfort and safety of the open game viewing vehicles with expert ranges. Visit Born Free Big Cat Rescue and Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Center during your stay. Following your time at the reserve, expect to take away a new appreciation for Africa’s wildlife and unforgettable experiences.

Day 4SHAMWARI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

There is so much to see on the reserve, that a second day is a must! The game viewing drives immerse you in the natural beauty and animal life of the reserve, while the activities keep you as active as you would like. Many wonderful memories are on tap while staying at the reserve.

Day 5VICTORIA FALLS

Say goodbye to the beautiful reserve while heading to Port Elizabeth Airport. Guests fly to Victoria Falls, via Johannesburg, landing in Zimbabwe early afternoon. Upon arrival, transfer to the historical and elegant Victoria Falls Hotel for the remainder of the afternoon and evening at the guests’ leisure.

Day 6VICTORIA FALLS

Today is guests’ choice of activities to enhance Victoria Falls – helicopter over the Falls, exploration by guided hike, bike tour or river fishing. Gather this evening for a sunset cruise traveling the Zambezi River with the exclusive “Signature Deck,” the uppermost level with gormet hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Keep your camera close as hippos, elephants and other African wildlife make appearances. Enjoy dinner under the stars alongside the Zambezi River before returning to the hotel.

Day 7VICTORIA FALLS

Depart on your walking tour of Victoria Falls – a path along the edge of the forest provides visitors wiht unparalleled views of the falls. Return to the hotel to relax for lunch. This evening, depart on the Bushtracks Express vintage train dinner stoppping on the Victoria Falls bridge. Enjoy dinner onboard before returning to the hotel for one more evening.

Day 8BOTSWANA AND ZAMBEZI QUEEN

Travel by bus to the Botswana border before being met by the Zambezi Queen team and continuing onto the the privately chartered Zambezi Queen, your home for the next three evenings. Relax onboard while familiarizing yourself with the vessel enjoying welcome drinks, dinner and beverages before retiring to plus accommodations on the Zambezi River.

Day 9ZAMBEZI QUEEN

Early this morning, choose from bird watching or fishing. After breakfast, join the morning safari with the tender boats traveling to the shores of the Chobe Natioanl Park, home to over 120,000 elephants. Watch for a variety of wildlife including hippos, water buffalo, giraffes and more. Relax onboard before another afternoon cruise onboard the Chobe River.

Day 10ZAMBEZI QUEEN

After breakfast, head to experience the Chobe National Park by vehicle or boat, the choice is yours. Enjoy the last day of adventure in Africa by including a chocie of fishing, bird watching or game viewing. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your traveling companions, including a traditional African boma, served with festive African singing and dancing.

Day 12JOHANNESBURG AND FLY HOME

Breakfast will be served onboard this morning before transferring to Namibian and Botswana customs. Fly from Kasane, Botswana to Johannesburg this afternoon before catching scheduled flights home. International flights returning home this evening should be after 10pm.

ARRANGING YOUR FLIGHTS

Included flights will be non-stop when possible, but this is not guaranteed. Home city arrival and departure airfare is not included. Guests ay arrive anytime on day 1, however we highly encourage all guests consider arriving 1-2 days early into Cape Town. On day 11, flights may depart after 10pm. For guests who wish to spend additional time or take advantage of earlier flight options, John Hall’s Alaska can assist in arranging hotel accommodations at the Johannesburg Airport.

Due to TSA security checks, please arrive at your local airport 2 hours prior to the plane’s departure time. The John Hall’s Alaska team can provide assistance with flight arrangements.

It is important to note when booking flights, international airports may require additional security screening when transiting terminals. Guests should plan for 2-3 hours in between international flights.
